Dylan Corlay will conduct Berlioz's Les Troyens for his debut at Oper Frankfurt
01 Mar 2017
Dylan Corlay makes his debut at Oper Frankfurt on March 9th, conducting Berlioz's Les Troyens. This large-scale, grand opera, lasting over five hours, was never performed during Berlioz's lifetime and is not frequently performed today, in part due to the considerable size of the orchestra and chorus, its complexity, and the musical demands made on the singers; it was last staged at Oper Frankfurt in 1983. The lead roles of Cassandra, Dido and Aeneas are sung by Tanja Ariane Baumgartner, Claudia Mahnke and American tenor Bryan Register, and the opera is directed by Eva Maria Höckmayr.
