Insula orchestra make their UK debut at the Barbican Centre, with new release on Deutsche Grammophon
04 Sep 2015
ICA is delighted to present Insula – one of Europe’s most energetic new period instrument orchestras – in their UK debut at the Barbican Centre on 21 September 2015. Just three years after their conception, Insula (together with Founder and Music Director Laurence Equilbey, and joined by her renowned chamber choir accentus) will perform a rich and enjoyable programme of neglected Classical masterpieces: Zelenka (Miserere), Mozart (Solemn Vespers, K.339) and CPE Bach (Magnificat). Joining the Insula orchestra as soloists for this concert are soprano Judith van Wanroij, alto Wiebke Lehmkuhl, tenor Reinoud van Mechelen, and bass Andreas Wolf.
This concert ties in with the release of Insula’s newest recording on Deutsche Grammophon, made with celebrated counter-tenor Franco Fagiolo (more information here).
