Sir James Galway “The Man With the Golden Flute” and Lady Galway will commence on a tour through the UK today, combining performances with masterclasses to teach and inspire the next generation of flautists.

The first masterclasses will take place at the Royal Irish Academy of Music on 15 and 16 May, after which they will continue to the Royal College of Music for a masterclass and chamber coaching session on 18 May, and the Birmingham Conservatoire on 22 and 23 May. The masterclasses at the Royal College of Music and Birmingham Conservatoire are open to the general public.

Following the educational part of the tour they will start performing on 24 May at Birmingham Town Hall at a Benefit Concert for Birmingham Conservatoire. Subsequently, they will travel on to perform two recitals with Irish pianist Michael McHale, the first recital taking place at De Montfort Hall in Leicester on 25 May and the second at The Apex in Bury-St-Edmunds on 28 May. They will finalise the tour on 1 June at the lovely Waterfront Hall in Belfast at the Sir James Galway Gala Concert along with the Ulster Orchestra, conducted by David Brophy.
