Sir James and Lady Galway, the world’s premiere flute duo, embark on a major tour of the United States throughout March 2016. The tour, comprising duo and solo performances as well as masterclasses, begins in San Diego on 10 March at the Museum of Contemporary Art, featuring pieces by Gaubert, Chaminade, Harty, F & K Doppler, Gossec, Marais, Kreisler and Briccaldi.

The Galways then move on to Santa Monica College Performing Arts Centre on 16 March. The programme here includes a suite by Howard Shore from the Lord of the Rings soundtrack, which was arranged especially for Sir James. Next they move to Sonoma for a concert at the Green Music Center of Sonoma State University on 18 March. Then on to The Kennedy Centre in Washington on 20 March for a performance featuring works by Drigo, Borne and many others.

After Washington they then travel to Rhode Island's Veterans Memorial Auditorium for a concert with the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra on 23 March.  This concert will see Sir James performing Mozart's Flute Concerto No. 2 and both Sir James and Lady Galway present Overton's The Magic Flutes.  On 24 March Sir James will also be teaching a masterclass at the Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School.

Mississippi is the next stop, for a masterclass on 29 March followed by a concert on 31 March at the Bennett Auditorium, University of Southern Mississippi, featuring the university's Symphony Orchestra. Sir James performs the Mercadante Flute Concerto in E minor, alongside a second duo performance of The Magic Flutes.

This landmark tour ends with a day of masterclasses in Athens, Georgia, once again demonstrating the Galways’ passion for music education.
