Tamsin Waley-Cohen to perform at the Istanbul and Aldeburgh Music Festivals

On 3 June, Tamsin Waley-Cohen joins Orchestra of the Swan and conductor David Curtis at the 44th Istanbul Music Festival. Performing at the Hagia Eirene Museum, in a concert entitled A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which is a special project that features Mendelssohn’s incidental music performed by the Orchestra of Swan and soprano Ayşe Şenogul, with the celebrated actress Tilbe Saran acting out excerpts from Shakespere’s play. The works performed include Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Following this, Tamsin then travels to the Aldeburgh Music Festival on 18 June for a concert at the Britten Studio in Snape. She is joined by pianist James Baillieu for a programme that features Debussy’s Sonata for Violin, Carter’s Four Lauds, Ives’ Decoration Day, Elgar’s Violin Sonata and a world premiere performance of her sister Freya Waley-Cohen’s new work Permutations
