Tamsin Waley-Cohen begins her Echo Rising Stars tour on Monday 3 October in Birmigham’s Town Hall, the venue which nominated her. Tamsin is the only British artist to be selected for this prestigious programme by the European Concert Halls Organisation for the 2016/2017 season. She will embark on a major tour of Europe’s foremost concert halls, including the Musikverein in Vienna, Cité de la Musique in Paris, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Barbican in London and Philharmonie in Cologne.

Together with regular partner Huw Watkins on piano, she will present a programme that features Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No. 5, Spring, Elgar’s Violin Sonata, Ravel’s Violin Sonata No. 2 and Gershwin’s (arr. Heifetz) Selection from Porgy and Bess. The programme will also include the world premiere of a new work by Oliver Knussen, commissioned by the ECHO Rising Stars programme and written for Tamsin Waley-Cohen.
